History

Cardinal Ridge is located approximately 2.5 miles west of Route 1 on Cardinal Drive in Woodbridge, Virginia. Cardinal Ridge was built in 1994 primarily by Richmond American Homes along with Stok Homes. It features 1/4 to 1/3 acre lots with single family homes ranging from about 2,000 square feet up to about 3,000 square feet or more with finished basements. Construction prices were in the $200k (more or less) range. There are approximately 165 homes in the subdivision.

Cardinal Ridge was developed in two sections. The first section ended on Wheatfield Rd at the intersection of Wheatfield Rd and Bloomfield Dr. Section 2 was later developed and extended Wheatfield Rd and added Ambergate, Piedmont, and others near Powell's Creek. Initially Cardinal Ridge was designed to provide only homeowner lamp lighting for the subdivision. Eventually it became clear that this lighting was insufficient in many areas and street lights were put into place.

Organization

The Cardinal Ridge Home Owners Association (HOA) has five board memebers. Serving this board are two primary committees. These committees are the Architectural Review Committee which is responsible for review and approval of all architectural modifications to Cardinal Ridge properties. The beautification committee is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and upkeep of Cardinal Ridge common areas. The Association is managed by Tagare Corporation. Board meetings occur the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Tagare offices.

Crime

Crime is very low at Cardinal Ridge. Most property crime is usually related to people leaving their cars unlocked and items being stolen from them. With a single entrance and exit, Cardinal Ridge does not provide a quick escape for the criminally-minded.
